I could have bought two two and a half of these with the money I’m sinking into a ring. Another guy is picking it up tomorrow morning and I could have had the money Friday. The worst feeling is missing out on a car, especially one I love this much.

Yeah, wedding rings are hella expensive. Definitely worth it, though, for all the
never having sex again in your life
love and affection.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:12 |

She’s worth it(She puts up with me, so yeah.) but also her dad is also a great person and when it finally happens he’s not the kind of person to let money get between us and our happiness... If that means a car we want, we got it.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:15 |

Yeah, I’m just kidding. I’ve been married a few years now and it’s definitely worth it.
Those rings are crazy expensive though!

1 carat of diamonds. She goes to a private college though so it’s the price of admission(and making her friends jealous). Plus it’s beautiful.

My gf thinks a $1000 ring is too expensive
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:23 |

Yeah, it’s one of the problems with living in the area I do. With great power comes great responsibility. With great money comes stupid expectations. She’d actually be fine with anything because she’s great but in 20 years when I’m a CPA and she’s a NP and we’re making bank, I didn’t want to be the guy with the small ring if that makes sense.

Should have gotten her an onion ring

I told her when we get married(engagement still to come) I expect a diamond as much as she does. No plain metal band for me. Muhahaha

mine doesn;t even wear her diamond anymore. she loved it but didn;t like it always gettin caught on stuff. still wears her wedding band (otherwise i’d be like whats up yo) dont get caught up with that whos is bigger BS

I’m the Toyota guy. Last time she asked for a car she got the laissez faire and a checkbook and ended up with a RX350. I’ll make sure she does better next time.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:29 |
|
Very true. Considering she’s a nursing major she won’t be able to wear it at work anyways. I like shiny things and that has become my downfall.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:29 |
|
Nah, just need to find one that’s realistic. The wife only wanted a wedding band, so we got her something that was high end, but cheaper than buying two pieces.
Add a rider to your home/rental ins. It’s cheap - it will take 67yrs of ins to pay for her ring (it could go up, but still it’s cheap). Unless you got name brand (aka Tiffany’s) you just need an appraisal. We have full replacement value on hers.
I got a tungsten band so it shatters instead of severs my finger. I still take it off when I work on things, because the thought of being degloved is unsettling. Barf.

My dad wore his gold ring every day as a mechanic, eventually got so bent up it was just splitting his finger and he ended up with titanium.

That Supra is beautiful. I really want it.

I could have too! (did the same thing three weeks ago) Bluenile.com is the place to go it's awesome! Good luck! Wish I could relive that day everyday!

When my dad was a young tech at Toyota he fell in love with the brownish goldish colored one. I was going to try to get this one for him and me.

BTW If it tells you all the kind of girl she is, she bought me a Ferrari Autocross Experience for Christmas.

I just called him not too long ago. If you got 1400 and can get there tonight or tomorrow before 10 o’clock it could probably be yours.

It would sadly sit at home/parents shop anyways. College got me loving my LS400 more then any vehicle in the world. As soon as I graduate I’m getting myself something newer and doing a full restoration on a car made in 1998 hahah
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:38 |

I often look at my garage and think to myself, ‘instead of these three beautiful automobiles, I could have one wife. I’ve chosen wisely.’
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:41 |
|
Well the wife will be my way to get my beutiful dream garage. And the only car out of the list comprised of a 1984 Supra, FJ45, Lexus GX470(off-road), and my LS400 restored that she has not said yes to is a JDM Toyota Century. The V12 one. She doesn’t like the looks but I’ll change her mind (maybe)

This color?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:42 |

heres a shiny thing for you. If you have the money to spare then whatever, but after the wedding and you need a new heater, you realize that cutting $5k off the ring budget could be reassigned to something much more useful.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:42 |
|
I can’t line up a trailer in that amount of time, unfortunately. $1,400 would also be most of my life’s savings, it would really be a stupid decision.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:43 |

It’s either that color or this color, I’ll have to ask.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:43 |

Guy said it needs a wiring harness. If I had the money my dad would fix it for free(yay for Toyota shops) but alas I don’t.

Either way, they’re both very sexy colors.

Give me until this summer and I will finally have income back. School=lots of outflow and no cash inflow. I’m an accounting major so yeah I think weird.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:47 |

I did that with the girlfriends dad last summer. Bought a ‘74 Fj40 and flipped it. Not very well but made a bit.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:50 |

Nice! Flipping cars seems like a fun hobby, especially if it ends up not costing anything.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 21:51 |

It’s not that it doesn’t cost anything, but it takes time. I thought it would be easy, learned my lesson, not doing it again anytime soon.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:01 |

Lol... Congrats?
My SO insists on getting me a ring even though he knows I don’t wear much jewelry and definitely don’t want diamonds. At least he won’t be spending 2.5 cars worth on it.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:02 |
|
If you really chose wisely, you could’ve had a wife and 6 beautiful cars.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:04 |
|
I get it. Mine has been looking at engagement rings. She doesn't want diamonds or anything big/flashy
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:04 |
|
A diamond is worth it. They’re shiny. Also, she doesn’t mind my obsession with cars but since she doesn’t really care what she drives jewelry is her thing.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:07 |
|
Some people get sapphires or emeralds but I’ve never quite got that. I would say get a smaller good quality diamond(with no color/and I 1 quality) and call it good. A plain metal setting just enough to hold the diamond. Colored ones don’t match outfits sometimes and diamonds just shine pretty(PLEASE don’t take my man card since I said that)
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:09 |
|
agree - not much better way to put skin in the game. Shows you plan to treat your SO well for the next 50 years.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:10 |
|
Someone told me not to get a certain cut of diamond because the resale value. Haha I’m not planning on selling it!
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:14 |
|
“Worth it” depends on your priorities. Moissanite is shinier, you get more ct for the dollar, and unless her friends whip out a loupe and know what to look for, there are no visible differences ;) also more ethical. I wouldn’t ever try to pass it off as a diamond or anything, but I don’t really care about that aspect of it and don’t want him to feel like he has to blow money on something I won’t even wear every day.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:16 |
|
Congrats many happy wishes.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:16 |
|
I misread what you said, if it’s just an everyday ring $100 is the top of my current budget, the only reason this is big money is because it’s THE ring of all rings for her haha
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:17 |
|
Thanks! You all will definitely know when it happens.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:17 |
|
Sounds like you have a keeper.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:22 |
|
That’s a good point. But generally speaking, wives tend to hate insane financial decisions.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:23 |
|
Yea, different priorities. Mine would also be an engagement ring in that he doesn’t want to propose empty handed, but due to the nature of my work (engineer working mostly in a plant) I wouldn’t be able to wear it every day.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:29 |
|
My girlfriend is a nursing major so basically the same boat.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:33 |

Dropping car money on rocks is an insane financial decision in my book, but I’m sure others would say the same about two people having 5+ vehicles.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:36 |
|
Thank gof my wife doesn’t care for shiny bits. Her engagement band was something cheap and the wedding ring, well, mine was more expensive than hers. I think I spent $400 on the wedding ring. She loves it.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:42 |
|
I’m a person who likes shiny things(that’s why I drive Toyota’s. Or not actually) so it’ll be worth it. When I get the bill for a FJ45 restoration and she starts complaining I’ll just point to the ring and she’ll stop hahaha
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:43 |
|
Diamonds are an absolute no go for her. The examples she's shown me have a hint of color or smoke
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:47 |

DeBeers LIES!
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:51 |
|
Exactly. I’m a single dude with 11 cars and 6 boats. That shit wouldn’t fly.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 00:07 |
|
If you do get engaged, buy off of consignment. Get double the ring for the same price.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 00:09 |
|
As someone experienced in getting engaged, I suggest consignment is the way to go. For the same money you will get 2x or 1.5x the ring.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 00:11 |
|
$5K off the ring budget? Yikes, my ring was only like 2.7K, then once she left I flipped it for about 900.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 00:11 |

Can I come to Atlanta now?
![]() 02/11/2016 at 00:21 |

Glad my SO has cheap taste in rings. Im spending way more on an engine and tranny for my project than I will on her ring
![]() 02/11/2016 at 03:36 |
|
It is! But you have to know what you’re buying and don’t act impulsively. The only time I got burned was when I bought something I didn’t know was terribly unreliable. Lesson learned.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 08:07 |
|
I think thats about what I paid as well. so much $ for something so small. When my mother-in-law got remarried he gave her a $15k ring. They got divorced and she tossed it in the woods. i’d be more than happy to go in on an excursion to find that and split the proffits.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 08:16 |
|
We had a secretary that wanted more responsibility, so the engineers got together and found something for her to do - walk the plant and pull the daily reading sheets. Simple enough. Remove all jewelry, don a hardhat, slicker, and boots, walk around and grab paper off of clipboards.
A couple of weeks later we saw her walking the route and kicking rocks. Literally. She was looking for the 2.5 carat diamond that had fallen out of her engagement ring. It seems she forgot step one.
She never found that diamond.

It's a bit chilly right now so depends on how you feel about cold
![]() 02/11/2016 at 11:54 |

Wow. I would not be amused if that happened. We should get a land cruiser from overland and expedition and set out.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 11:56 |

lol she got drunk at a Chinese food restaurant and threw it into the woods next to the parking lot. I would think a metal detector is all you would need
![]() 02/11/2016 at 13:39 |
|
Well theres your problem, you spent way too much money on a ring! $1500 is plenty.
![]() 02/11/2016 at 13:57 |
|
Wow. When my ex got divorced (not from me, we were never married) she threw her wedding ring into the Ottawa river. Mind you, it only cost about 300. Still, it would be a good find if you were able to grab it before it got to the ocean.

Not for this girl haha. She goes to a private school, drives a Lexus over a decade newer then mine, and likes her jewelry. She would be fine with anything, but she deserves more.

To each their own, congrats though! Now you get to plan the most expensive one night party of your life.......it’s worth it and its a ton of fun, but god damn is it an expensive night. Word of advice for your wedding, every little bit just stop and take it all in, because it goes by way too fast.
![]() 02/12/2016 at 08:41 |

I’ve been told. My buddy got married in November and said he doesn’t remember that much. Learning experience for sure

Yup, its goes by so damn fast. If I hadn’t had the same advice I would have missed it all, so I make sure to pass it along. It’s a blast though.
